Why Write?

I try to make everyone laugh or learn, and writing helps me do that

Andy Hawthorne writes a lovely summary of why it’s worth blogging:

When you write, you think better. When you think better, you create better.

I’ve started the blog. I’m writing my thoughts down. And I think everyone else should too, in this day and age of AI. Your thoughts are as significant as the ones that shaped them. I promise there are people waiting to understand you. The Notion of your existence is rooted in those ideas you let slip.

I wish I wrote it down

Writing allows another to explore the validity of your unburdened thoughts within their own freedom. It was the one piece of revolutionary technology that allowed humans to progress. This seems obvious because writing itself is ancient and fundamental.

My parents are from South India. I spent most of my childhood in North India. For those of you reading that aren’t familiar with Indian written languages, the South has an unmistakable and flowing “curly script”

In Northern India, a type of wood called Bhurj was commonly used for writing. The use of wood as a writing surface meant for more angular and straight-line scripts to develop.

These two styles aren’t just aesthetics; they’re a testament to how the medium of writing shapes their expression and identity.

Whether it’s the curves of Southern script or the sharp lines of its Northern counterpart, fast forward to modern times and I’ve turned to writing my thoughts out in Notion. Each form carries its own legacy inviting you to ponder not only what to write, but how to write it.

It took me 20 years to realize that this happens when I try to speak on complex subjects without writing about them first:

There is a masterpiece waiting to be uncovered in your mind. A string of words in the form of a thoughts or idea that someone could experience and think “wow, that freaking changed how I perceive life”.

And even if it doesn’t do that to anyone else, at least in that moment, you did it for yourself.

Be authentic to yourself and your thoughts.

Be like the ancients of India or like Sponge:
