Dirty South Trivia
A recurring weekly trivia night side business in Atlanta, original question writing, comedic hosting, venue partnerships, A/V production, and data-driven audience retention.
Overview
Dirty South Trivia is a recurring weekly trivia night hosted at bars and venues across Atlanta. It's a side business combining original content creation, live event production, comedic performance, and audience engagement — run end-to-end from question writing to A/V setup to scoring.
What I Do
Content Creation
- Write original question sets across themed rounds — general knowledge, music, pop culture, sports, current events, and custom themed rounds
- Develop comedic quips, introductions, and answer reveals for each question to keep the energy high
- Design tiebreaker mechanics and scoring systems
Live Event Production
- Host for groups of 30–80+ participants per night
- Handle full A/V setup — microphone, speakers, projection/display for visual rounds
- Coordinate with venue partners on scheduling, promotion, and logistics
- Manage week-over-week programming to keep regulars engaged while welcoming new teams
Audience & Data
- Track attendance trends, popular round themes, and audience feedback
- Iterate on format, difficulty, and pacing based on what drives retention
- Build promotional materials and social media content for upcoming events
Why This Matters
Running trivia is project management, content creation, and live performance rolled into one. Every week is a new production cycle: research → write → rehearse → perform → gather feedback → iterate. It's the same loop as shipping a product, just with more beer and fewer standups.
Format
- Rounds: 4–5 themed rounds per night, 6–8 questions per round
- Specials: Music rounds (audio clips), visual rounds (image identification), numbers rounds (math-based cumulative scoring)
- Tiebreaker: Price-is-right style closest-without-going-over format
- Scoring: Team-based, running totals displayed between rounds
